This 10 Days Bwindi Gorillas and Serengeti Safari combines two of East Africa’s most sought-after safari destinations: Uganda and Tanzania. Along the way, you will enjoy gorilla trekking to see the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, and, if traveling in season, the chance to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration in the Serengeti, along with a wide range of other wildlife, including the Big Five.

This trip starts in Uganda and ends in Arusha, Tanzania, but can be customized to fit your schedule and preferences.

Detailed Itinerary: 10 Days Bwindi Gorillas and Serengeti Safari

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi National Park

Your Uganda safari guide will pick you up from the airport, or from your hotel in Entebbe, welcome you to the safari, and brief you on the trip ahead. You will then transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, with a stopover at the Equator and a lunch stop along the way. Continue to your lodge, check in, and spend the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Haven Lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience

After an early breakfast, and with a packed lunch in hand, meet your driver-guide for the transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. Once briefed, you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and a ranger guide knowledgeable about the mountain gorillas and the various trekking trails. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi can take anywhere from two to seven hours or more, depending on the gorillas’ location.

During the trek, you will have the chance to see other primates, birds, and plant life within Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Once you encounter the gorillas, you will spend an hour in their company, observing their behaviour and daily activities, including feeding, playing, breastfeeding, and grooming. Take as many photos and videos as you wish.

After this hour with the gentle giants, you will drive back to the lodge to relax, with dinner and an overnight stay, as above.

Day 3: Batwa Cultural Experience

Wake up at leisure, enjoy breakfast, and head out for a Batwa cultural experience. The Batwa were the original indigenous people of the Bwindi Impenetrable Rainforest, having coexisted there with its wildlife for generations. During this visit, you will experience their traditional way of life, including activities such as fire-making with sticks or stones. Dinner and overnight stay, as above.

Day 4: Drive to Entebbe

Enjoy breakfast at your lodge, then check out and continue your journey to Entebbe, with a stop in Mbarara for lunch along the way. On arrival, check in at your hotel and relax while you wait for dinner and an overnight stay at Best Western Hotel.

Day 5: Fly to Tanzania

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your flight to Tanzania. Upon arrival, you will be met by your Tanzania safari guide, who will welcome you, brief you on the trip ahead, and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha. Dinner and an overnight stay at The African Tulip Arusha.

Day 6: Transfer to Serengeti National Park

Transfer to Serengeti National Park, a renowned wildlife destination famous for the Big Five, elephant, lion, leopard, rhino, and buffalo, alongside many other species. You will drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying lunch en route.

After lunch, enjoy wildlife viewing as you continue through the Serengeti to your lodge. Dinner and an overnight stay at Mara River Camp by TBC.

Days 7 & 8: Full Days in Serengeti National Park (Northern Serengeti)

You will wake up for a morning game drive around Serengeti National Park in search of wildlife such as lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo, elephant, wildebeest, antelope, hippo, and giraffe, among others, along the Mara River area. Enjoy lunch after your morning game drive, with the chance to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration at its best.

Look out for more wildlife as you return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, as above.

Optional Activity: A hot air balloon ride.

Day 9: Central Serengeti Game Drives

Today, you will explore the central plains of Serengeti National Park, following the Seronera River, where wildlife converges to drink or cool off. Enjoy game drives through the park, punctuated by a picnic lunch stop along the way.

Day 10: Departure

After breakfast at camp, meet your Tanzania safari guide for the transfer to Arusha, enjoying lunch en route. You will be dropped off at the airport in time for your flight, or at your hotel in Arusha, bringing your safari to an end.
