Day 1: Transfer to Nyerere National Park, Game Drive and Boat Cruise
On the first day of the safari, you will leave Zanzibar on a 7 a.m. ferry to Dar es Salaam, where your guide will meet you for the transfer to Nyerere National Park. The park is quite a distance away, so you will arrive by midday.
After lunch, you will head out for a boat ride on the Rufiji River, where crocodile and hippo can often be seen alongside other wildlife converging to drink. Crocodiles frequently take advantage of these gatherings to hunt, so with luck, you may witness some genuine animal drama. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 2: Game Drive in Nyerere National Park, Guided Walking Safari
After an early breakfast, set out on a game drive with a picnic lunch, taking in the scenic views of the park and spotting wildlife you may otherwise have missed. Nyerere is roughly the size of Switzerland, an expanse of untouched African wilderness and rolling savanna.
Look out for African wild dog, elephant herds, giraffe, and much more. Enjoy your picnic lunch amid the park’s stunning surroundings.
Afterward, enjoy a guided walking safari across the park’s savanna, offering a genuine chance to experience the wildlife and landscape up close. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge, as above.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Departure
