Detailed information

Day 1. Arrival at Kigali International Airport and transfer to Akagera NP

Arrive at Kigali International Airport and transfer to Akagera National Park with the guidance of our assigned park guide. The driver guide will first offer you the best briefing to get conversant with Rwanda and this tour. Also get help to acquire all that you may require while on this safari such as camera batteries, visas, permits, currencies and more. Head to the lodge booked and if time allows, take an evening game drive.

Day 2. Full-day tour in Akagera National Park

On this day, enjoy the beautiful plains of Akagera as you encounter different wildlife by taking part in different activities such as game drives, hot air ballooning Safari and boat cruises on Lake Ihema. Hot air ballooning adventure offers an aerial view of the surroundings as you are flying in the basket.

The boat cruise gives a chance to spot water loving animals like hippos and crocodiles plus other bird species. Animals that you are expecting to see on this day are lions, elephants, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, impalas, warthogs, hyenas and more.

Day 3. Transfer to Volcanoes national park

Leave Akagera national park and head to Volcanoes national park home to the rare endangered mountain gorillas. While on the journey, pass through the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera, another exciting adventure in your lifetime as you opt to take a canoe adventure. Arrive in the evening and enjoy the beautiful views at the lodge.

Day 4. Gorilla trekking

Wake up and have your breakfast followed by a drive to the offices of the park where briefing takes place. Learn about gorilla behaviors, forest habitants, rules to follow, trekking time, materials you need to have and many more others. Begin the search for these gentle giants as they are always in groups called families. Spend an hour observing a gorilla family and capturing great moments. Later on, head to the lodge for an evening of leisure.

Day 5. Transfer to Nyungwe National Park and canopy walk

Leave Volcanoes national park and head to Nyungwe national park home to 13 primates and the chimpanzees became the outstanding ones. Other primates in Nyungwe national park are vervet monkeys, olive baboons, red tailed monkeys, red colobus monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys and more.

Arrive and head for a canopy walk in the afternoon, an experience that offers you a chance to have an aerial view of the surroundings as the primates jump from one tree to another. Head to the lodge booked and this will be a great leisure evening.

Day 6. Chimpanzees trekking, transfer Lake Kivu

Wake up and enjoy a buffet breakfast at the lodge followed by a great drive to the briefing point. This exercise involves cross-checking of chimpanzee trekking permits, proper forest dress code, the rules and regulations, trekking materials, assignment of the park ranger guide, allocation to a group of tourists to trek with apes and more.

Start the search for these unique primate species as you spot other wildlife like birds, plants, monkeys and more. Spend an hour in the presence of the beautiful human cousins as you learn about their behaviors. Take memorable photos without using flashlight cameras. After, head to the lodge and have lunch followed by a transfer to Lake Kivu. Take a boat cruise and this will be one of the best adventures.

Day 7. Departure day

This will be the last day of your 7 days safari to Rwanda and therefore, have your well prepared breakfast then after jump into your safari vehicle and head to Kigali. Be dropped at the airport and this marks the end of the safari.
