This 3 days Nyungwe tour in Rwanda will help you explore the best and one of the top tourist destinations in Rwanda. Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Nyungwe national Park
Immediately upon arrival at the airport, you will be welcomed by the driver guide who will conduct a short briefing about this trip. The Safari will not be long and it will consist of rules and regulations to follow while on your safari and then you will drive to Nyungwe national Park which is known for homing chimpanzees and other 12 primates including the vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys and many more. After you will drive to your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
On this second day of your safari, you will be served with a well-served morning breakfast and after you will head for the activity you have been waiting for, chimpanzee trekking. You will drive to the headquarters of the park and be given a permit for trekking after go to the starting point where you will be given a ranger guide who will shortly brief you about the activity.
This will give you the procedures to follow while trekking and then after that you will set off and start looking for these animals. Chimpanzee trekking normally takes 4-6 hours and immediately after reaching on them, you will be allowed an hour in their presence as you are taking photos, and watching them grooming themselves and other related behaviors. Go back to the lodge for lunch.
In the evening, head for another yet amazing activity, the canopy walk. This is one the activities most visitors like to do while on any Rwanda safari. It is a high metallic suspended way up in 50 meters higher than tree tops where you will climb and have aerial view of the forest animals such as monkeys like red tailed monkeys jumping from one tree to another. Drive back to your lodge for your dinner.
Day 3. City tour and departure.
Begin a last day of your safari with delicious breakfast and later drive to the city of Kigali where you will visit many places in the city. Among the attractions in the city is Kimironko market which is one of the largest markets in the city and. Have an option of buying some souvenirs to with like Bangles, bags and many more.
You may also decide to visit the Kigali genocide memorial center where over 250,000 victims of the Hutu and Tutsi tribal war that broke up in 1994 were buried. It is a place of misery where you will have a look of the remains of the victims like bones, skulls and some weapons that were used in the war. Later drive to Kigali airport and fly back home.
