Spend these 8 days exploring Lake Nakuru National Park, Masai Mara National Reserve all in Kenya, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania. This means that it’s a combined Safari with a high chance of spotting and witnessing the annual wildebeest migration together with Zebra. Also, the big five animals will be seen through a game drive and boat cruise which will be the main activities on this safari.
The safari will begin in Nairobi Kenya and it will end in Arusha or Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Head to Lake Naivasha from Nairobi
Depart Nairobi city from any agreed pick-up point with an assigned driver guide to Lake Naivasha a home to hundreds of bird species. There are also different animals that will be spotted including hippos, baboons, giraffes, Zebras and elephants.
The journey to this lake is amazing where you get to see the countryside covered with local homesteads, landscapes and rift valley as the overall journey takes about 2 to 3 hours’ drive. Arrive and take part in an evening boat cruise after lunch to witness the beauty of this amazing protected area and various animal and bird species in Crescent island.
Day 2: Proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park
Begin the day with a morning game drive or nature walk with a local guide and then transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park, the birder’s paradise together with an array of wild animals such as Rothschild’s Giraffes, Buffalos, primates, Impalas, waterbucks, hippos, colobus monkeys, rhinos and zebras. All this and more will be seen while on the game drive and boat cruise for the 3 hours spent in the wilderness. But this evening, engage in the game drive if time allows.
Day 3: Full day in Nakuru (game drive and boat cruise)
After morning, head out for a morning game drive to watch more of the wildlife with a lunch break that will be followed by an afternoon boat cruise. All these activities are rewarding as you encounter different wildlife since Nakuru is a wildlife sanctuary. What you won’t miss include lions, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Zebras, gazelles, Oribis, warthog, leopards, hyenas and bush bucks.
Some of the birds that will be seen here include ostriches, herons, great blue-eared starlings, kingfishers, pelicans, Hottentot teal, cormorants, Abyssinian thrush, Sooty falcons, flamingos and more.
Day 4: Transfer southwards to Masai Mara National Reserve
Leave Lake Nakuru in the morning and transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve, one of the famous reserves known for hosting the great wildebeest migration to move in millions from and to Serengeti National Park of Tanzania.
Arrive and engage in the evening game drive to watch different animals such as lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, warthog, cheetahs, rhinos and many others.
Day 5: Full-day game drive – Masai Mara
Explore the plains of Mara through a full-day game drive where you expect to meet different wildlife including zebras, elephants, lions, cheetahs, Thomas gazelles, hyenas and Masai giraffes.
Birds like Abyssinian ground hornbills, vultures, ibis, and vultures will not be missed while on this day. You will enjoy a scenic picnic lunch after the morning game drive. In the evening, you will head back to the lodge for dinner.
Day 6: Leave Masai Mara and cross to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park
This will be a day to transfer from Kenya to Tanzania in the Serengeti plains which is home to the big five animals, large herds of wildebeests and Zebras, different bird species and reptiles. Arrive and travel to the lodge after a great road trip adventure.
Day 7: Full day in Serengeti National Pak
Spend a full day exploring the beautiful plains as you take part in different game drives and you try to look for the best of Serengeti plains. Animals that you expect to see are elephants, buffalos, antelopes, zebras, wildebeests, cheetahs, jackals, antelopes, bushbucks, elands, hartebeests, waterbucks, kudus, rhinos, hyenas, hippos and crocodiles.
Day 8: Drive to Arusha and fly home after a 5 hours – enroute game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater
Wake up early and enjoy the 5 hours of game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater area after breakfast. In this area, have a great time to look for lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, rhinos, wildebeests, gazelles, zebras, giraffes and more. This will be followed by a transfer to Arusha. Be dropped at the airport to mark the end of the safari.
