Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Pick up in Nairobi and transfer to Masai Mara.
You will be picked up from the hotel in Nairobi by a professional tour guide. Embark on the transfer to Masai Mara national reserve which will take you approximately 5 hours and the 20 minutes. Upon arrival in Masai Mara national reserve, you will check in at the lodge and rest a bit. Lunch will be served later in the afternoon.
After lunch, you will have a drive in the national reserve where you will have opportunities to view wildebeests in large numbers, zebras, giraffes and many others. Transfer back to the lodge at sunset for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Morning game drive in Masai Mara and Masai village tour in the evening.
Breakfast will be served at the lodge and after there you will embark on a guided morning game drive in the national reserve. The morning game drive will allow you opportunities to observe the big cats that inhabit the park as they hunt down their prey since this is their normal active time. Big cats such as lions, leopards and cheetahs are fond of being active in the morning hours as they try to find what to eat to keep them satisfied for the day. Visitors will therefore stand a high chance to view them in this game drive.
Transfer back to the lodge in the mid morning where you will be served a mouthwatering lunch. After lunch, you will relax a little to enable your bodies absorb the food and gain energy. In the evening, you’ll embark on the journey to the Masai villages where you will have deep insights into their way of life and interaction for the rest of the say. At sunset, head back to the lodge for an evening meal and a night’s rest.
Day 3: Fly from Masai Mara to Nairobi and onward flight to Zanzibar.
A morning meal will be had at the lodge after which you will transfer to Serena airstrip where you’ll catch the flights to Nairobi at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. At Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will have an onward flight that will take you up to Zanzibar.
Upon arrival in Zanzibar, you will check in at the hotel where you’ll be served a welcome drink. After lunch, you will enjoy the afternoon at the hotel in your units as you view the ocean. In the evening, you’ll head to the beach for sunbathing that will keep you occupied the entire evening. Enjoy the sunset overlooking the ocean and later transfer back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Zanzibar sea safari. Snorkeling, swim with the dolphins and sunbathing.
Breakfast will be served at the hotel at sunrise after which you will embark on the exciting Zanzibar sea safari. You’ll have a snorkeling activity in the morning which will help you have the best of the ocean adventure. The activity will go on up to midday where you will be served lunch at the beach restaurants. After lunch, embark on the afternoon swimming activity with the dolphins which is such an interesting and unforgettable experience.
Later in the evening, you will embark on the sunbathing activity at the beach as you enjoy the sunset with the spectacular views of the blue waters of the ocean while soaking into the sand. Later at sunset, you will transfer to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Stone town tour and the spice plantations tour.
Have breakfast at the lodge and later embark on the drive to stone town. In stone town, you’ll have an exploration around the town where you will visit the local suburbs and markets. In the markets, you’ll have a simple shopping where you buy souvenirs and taste the fruits especially the coconuts and other vegetables that are endemic to the coast.
Enjoy the activity up to midday where you will be served lunch. After lunch, embark on the transfer to spice plantations. In the plantations you’ll be equipped with information on how the spices are grown and the beautiful gardens are such attractions that are interesting to look at and also provide unusual opportunities for photography. You will also have insights into how turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper and chili are grown. Enjoy the plantations the rest of the evening and later embark on the transfer back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Dhow cruise and beach relaxation.
Have breakfast at the lodge very early in the morning and later embark on the exciting dhow cruise on the ocean which is so enjoyable. The activity will also help you view various birds that fly above the ocean especially flamingos, marabou stocks, hammerkops and secretary birds. The cruise will also provide chances for sightseeing and photography.
Transfer to the mainland later in the afternoon for lunch at the restaurant. After lunch, you will relax at the beach the entire afternoon. Enjoy the cool breeze at the beach and later transfer back to the lodge at sunset for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 7: Departure and fly back home.
A morning breakfast will be served at the hotel. After the meal, you will check out of the room and later head to Zanzibar airport. At the airport, you will catch the flight back home.
