Murchison Falls National Park is a renowned habitat for a variety of animals in Uganda and it stands out as the custodian of the world’s most powerful waterfalls. Visitors on this trip will have the opportunity to explore the National Park to the fullest and also have a glance at the world’s most powerful waterfalls.

Travelers will further explore the Bwindi impenetrable forest and also track the endangered mountain gorillas. Flights between various touristic destinations will be carried out to ensure that visitors have much time left for exploration of the destinations rather than being on the road. Visits to the Ziwa rhino sanctuary will also be conducted which will make the visitor stand a chance of viewing the big 5 animals on this safari.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Entebbe International Airport. Optional city tour.

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be picked up by a professional guide. The guide will provide information about the country in an interactive manner as you embark on the transfer to the hotel. At the hotel, you will relax and enjoy the views of the town and later in the afternoon a delicious lunch will be.

An optional city tour will be conducted in Entebbe that will enable you view the beautiful areas in the surroundings and the stunning views of the lake. Transfer back to the lodge at sunset and relax as you enjoy the views of the bird species which usually visit the lodge especially the marabou stocks, hammerkops, African fish eagles, turacos, Abyssinian ground hornbill, black bee eaters, cinnamons, egrets and African darters. Dinner will be served later at twilight by the team at the lodge and you will have a night rest.

Day 2: Transfer from Entebbe to Murchison falls National Park via Ziwa rhino sanctuary.

Breakfast will be served at the lodge at first light after which you will embark on the transfer to Murchison folds National Park, a journey which will take you roughly 4 hours and 28 minutes.  Enroute to the destination, you will branch off to the captivating Ziwa rhino sanctuary where you will be served lunch at the lodge on arrival probably around midday.

Trek the rhinos in the sanctuary the entire afternoon and after, embark on the continuation drive to Murchison falls National Park. Sign in at the lodge on arrival and relax as you enjoy the captivating views of the grasslands and other various vegetation types.  Dinner will be served at sunset and you will stay overnight.

Day 3: Game drive in the morning and boat cruise.

An early meal will be served at the lodge at sunrise after which you will embark on a guided morning game drive in the National Park that will present to you the golden opportunities to view animals that inhabit the National Park encompassing African Bush elephants, African buffaloes, leopards, jackals, elands, common genets, warthogs, common elands and giraffes.

The game drive will keep you occupied the entire morning and at around high noon you will transfer back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will embark on the drive to the Nile river which crosses the National Park where you will conduct a launch cruise to the Murchison falls. Views of the waterfall will be unveiled as you get closer and you’ll have the opportunity to take photographs and record videos which will act as memoirs of this exhilarating trip. At the river, you will also view Nile crocodiles on the banks and a variety of bird species in the trees along. Transfer back to the lodge at sundown for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Fly from Murchison falls National Park (Pakuba airstrip) to Bwindi National Park (Kihihi airstrip).

Breakfast will be served at crack of dawn at the lodge after which you will embark on the transfer to Pakuba airstrip in the National Park. At the airstrip, you’ll catch the scheduled flight to South of the country in Kihihi airstrip in Bwindi impenetrable National Park. When you arrive at Kihihi airstrip you will undertake the journey to the lodge, check in at the lodge on arrival and relax in your rooms.

A delicious lunch will be served at the lodge as you enjoy the views of the forest. In the evening, you will undertake an evening nature walk in the forest that will present opportunities to view a variety of bird species and primates that live within the National Park especially the black and white colobus monkeys and golden monkeys. The nature walk will provide the therapeutic environment that will help you reflect on life due to its cool breeze and sounds of nature. Transfer back to the lodge at sunset, get served dinner by the team at the lodge and rest overnight.

Day 5: Gorilla tracking and Batwa community tour

You will be served a delicious breakfast at the lodge at first light. After breakfast, you will go in for the briefing about gorilla trekking tour with the National Park Rangers. After briefing, you will encounter the jungle to look for these gentle giants. The activity will take you approximately 6 hours and once the gorilla families are sighted, you will be allowed a maximum of 60 minutes to interact with them as the tourist guide provides information and fascinating facts about them.

Transfer back to the lodge after the activity for a delicious lunch to keep you geared up in the day’s activities. Embark on the Batwa trails in the afternoon which will lead you to the Batwa homesteads that are within the forests. The Batwa people are celebrated hunter gatherers and they too have various fascinating facts about them which will be unveiled during the storytelling. Enjoy the interactions with these wonderful people and later at dusk, transfer back to the lodge.  Dinner will be served at twilight and you will stay for the night time.

Day 6: Fly back to Entebbe international airport.

Upon waking up in the morning, you will be served a delicious meal after which you will pack and check out of the lodge. Embark on the drive to Kihihi airstrip in the vicinity of the park where visitors will catch the flight to Entebbe International Airport. At Entebbe International Airport, visitors will catch onward flight back home which will mark the end of this 6 days safari in Uganda.
